METHODS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association)
STBATFOBD, This Day
Interviewed regarding the question of the Tepeal or amendment' of the Commercial Trusts Act, the Board of Trade Act, and the Cost of Living Act, arising out of the statement made by the Right Hon. J. .G. Coates that a consolidation of those measures might be possible, the Minister of Industries and' Commerce (the Hon. R. Masters) stated that the Prime Minister was very definite in his decision not ,to repeal, .the Acts in question, and in this ilr. Masters, as Minister in Charge of the legislation, concurred. ' .
Recent convictions under the Commercial Trusts Act, he said, demonstrated quite clearly! the necessity for this legislation remaining on the Statute Book as a protection for the public against the adoption of trust methods* The question of suitable amendments, however, was being considered by himself,' the . Crown Law Office,, and his Department at present, in accordance with a promise made by the Prime Minister to. a deputation of business men which waited upon him recently in Welllington.
'' Traders,'' said Mr. Masters, ' ' are entitled to every consideration, and it is with a view to seeing that this consideration is given without injury to the purchasing public that the amendments are being considered."-
