A resolution authorising racing clubs to compute dividends in races on. the system of win hnd place has been, adopted by the executive committee of the New Zealand Eacing Conference., and regulations carrying into effect the resolution wer^ issued to-day. .- -- '■
The - authority, like that, of the special resolutions providing. for payment of first, second, and third dividends adopted in September, is optional only. -The system is simply a further alternative/method of computing dividends. ..I . •.'. ,' ''
The. win and ■ place system may operate only where there are five or more totalizator: numbers.: Investments shall be received separately, for win and for'place, and shall be. shown and: pdealt with as separate pools; ■.. .-.. j The:.whole.amount, of th.c. win. pool, less taxation, will bo divided among backers of- the; winner. : In. the case: of the.place pool .the amount for.distribution as dividends will be divided into two equal parts for backers of the first and second horses in fieldis of five, sis, ■or : seven', runners, and it will be divided into three equal parts for backers of the first, second, third horses in fields of over seven runners. Jf. there are dead-heats for any places, the place pool will be divided into as many equal parts as there are horses in the. first three places and allotted accordingly.
