DE VALERA POLICY
COSGRAVE'S CRITICISM
LONDON, 15th November. In speaking to Ms motion of censure on the de Valera Government in the Dail Mr. W. T. Cosgrave v said: : "Mr. do Valera is pursuing a will-of-the-wisp. It is criminal to jettison, the advantages to be gained from the Ottawa Conference.
'. "Meanwhile discontent and unrest are developing at an alarming rate. Political passions have been aroused to a height unknown even in Ireland. Implacable hatreds have become cbmmonplace. The fundamental'principles of Christianity are in danger of being forgotten. Eeligion itself is menaced by the stealthy progress of class hatred and social and moral disintegration." Mr. McDermott denounced Mr. de. Valera's programme as bluster and; jingoism.
■Mr. T. Dening, Minister of Education, denied that the country was in the dreadful condition that, Mr/ cW grave had represented. He ; said that the national credit was as high as before and that unemployment had aot unduly increased. . .
Mr. J. M. O'Sullivan, -ex-Minister'of Education, declared that the Government 's huge relief schemes were eat)jig the country's .capital. The motion was defeated by 75 Vflites to" 70.
Mr. de Valera will state to-morrow his intentions regarding the use of the annuities. '
