The Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Forde, was suspended for the remainder of- the sitting after a rowdy scene in the House of Eepresentatives. During the consideration in committee of the Ottawa Agreement Bill Mr. Forde was called to order several times. Mr. Parkhill, Minister for Home Affairs, who was in charge of the House, subsequently moved, amid uproar, that Mr. Forde be suspended. The Opposition' tellers declined to take tho count and the motion was agreed to. Earlier there had been a scene of wild disorder. Only aa. hour was al-, lowed by the- Government for the discussion of Article Twelve, Which was' held by the Labour Party to be the most contentious in~ the agreement. When Mr. Parkhill rose to speak the Labour members began shouting, and it was impossible for Mr. Parkhill to make himself heard above the din of interjections which lasted ten minutes.

Mr. Riordan was named, but withdrew his remarks and apologised. When the guillotine fell Mr. Parkhill and Mr. Beasley were on their feet shouting at each other at the top of their voices.

Tho clause was carried by 37 votes to 21.
