ZEALANDIA'S LONG TRIP
DUE AT SYDNEY TO-NIGHT
The Huddart,-Parker Company's intercolonial steamer Zealandia, which left Auckland for Sydney on Friday' afternoon with.. only one of her engines working, is not expected to reach. Sydney until 9 p.nu to-day, according to cable advice received by the local office of the company to-day. She will.not leave. Sydney for Wellington earlier than Saturday afternoon, and is due. here next Wednesday. In the ordinary course of "events the Zealandia would have arrived at Sydney yesterday morning and would have left Sydney on Friday afternoon, arriving here on Tuesday morning. . . • . •.
When the Zealandia. was 124 miles west of, the Three Kings Islands she was passed by the Niagara, which arrived at Auckland on Monday morning. The two vessels passed at 3.50 a.m. on Sunday when they were 369 miles from Auckland, so that the Zealandia had averaged about 10 knots instead of 14% or 15 knots after leaving for Sydney. When the Niagara sighted the the weather was- fine, with a north-easterly wind, which was in the Zealandia s favour. The port engine, in which a defect was discovered at Auckland, will be repaired while the Zealandia is at Sydney', ■

"The Council of .the Wellington Chamber of Commerce is of opinion that the proposals contained in the draft regulations for goods services are so far-reaching that they should be submitted to. Parliament for consideration in the form of a Bill instead of becoming law by Order-in-Couneil.
