GOLD AT THAMES
NEW LEADER DISCOVERED
SEVERAL CLAIMS PEGGED

THAMES, This Day. It-is reported fronr Coromandel that Mr. Sam Chapman and his son have discovered a new leader. containing valuable ore. Yesterday a 661b specimen of stone was lodged in the Bank of New Zealand.
Chapman, jun., holds a miner's right over 15 acres between Pukewhau claim and the old battery site on the slopes of the Tiki range. Both have been prospecting for some time. About a week ago he discovered a leader, and after driving on it for ten feet, discovered indications of rich ore. When the news spread there was a mild rush to the scene, and several claims have been pegged out adjoining that of the Chapmans. '■.-■■
The ground in. the vicinity had been worked in earlier days, when much gold was taken out.
