LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

WORK AT HATAITAI

About one hundred members attended the recent meeting of the Hataitai branch of the League of Mothers, at which Mrs. Meßae presided. Mra. Scott (treasurer of the league's soup kitchen) gave a final statement of accounts, the kitchen having closed down last month. There was a balance of £8 15s in hand. A further donation from the league of £3 was made to the Inter-church Relief Fund, which still continues to administer relief in the district.

A letter was read from the secretary of the Albpa branch, of the. Scottish Mother's Union, which has allied itself to the Hataitai branch as a home link, and correspondence will be exchanged between the two. A delightful programme was rendered by Mesdames King, Tonka, and Miss Roskruge. Dr. Spencer- gave a short talk to mothers, and a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded him and the performers. Arrangements were made to take a special Christmas party to the Soldiers' Hostel, when carols are to be sung by the mothere' choir. The November meeting js to be in the hands of tho members, who are to take complete charge and'entertain the officers and committee. Tea was served.
