OBITUARY
MR. G H. F. MACPHERSON
Thedeath of Mr;,' Charles Henry 3?. Macpherson, inspector New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency.Company, Ltd., took place yesterday after a long and painful illness.
Mr. Macpherson was a man of wide sympathies and; sterling character, and was highly respected by all who Knew him. By the. members of .his staff he was always regarded as a just and kindly chief. •
Mr. Macpherson, who was in his 58th year at the time of his death, was born at Lyttelton. His father, the lateMr. James D: Macpherson, was one of the early Canterbury settlers, and a descendant of the 'old Highland Cluny branch of the' Clan Chattan of Badenacti, Scotland.' Mr. Charles Macpherson was a nephew of" the late Mr. Malcolm Macpherson, chief inspector of the Loan and Mercantile Company from 1904 to 1907. - The-late Mr. Maepher-' son was, educated at the Christchurch Boys' High School, and while at school j was a. chorister at Christchwrch Cathe-' dral. He entered the service of the Loan and Mercantile Company in 1900, and received steady promotion, becoming successively agent at Dannevirke,: accountant at Christchurch, manager at Hawera, and . finally inspector, which position he held at the time of his death. Ho is survived, by his widow, and there aro three sisters and two brothers, who reside in Australia. , The funeral service will be field at St. Paul's ; Pro-,Cathedral , to-morrow, morning at 10 o'clock. Following the service at Karori Cemetery, a Masonic service will bo hold. .
