PROSPECT AT AVONDALE
One o£ the hardest horsos to beat in the Kingslaud Highweiglit Handicap on- the opening day at Avondale on Saturday should be Thespis, who is now a member Of H. Gray's stable at Takanini and is said to be very forward at present. He is reasonably weighted at 9.13, and'the distance, VA miles, will suit him. ■. 0 ■ The last time this little-raced iive-ycaiv old son of Thespian appeared in-piiblic >vas at the Pakuranga Hunt Club's/Meeting in August,' and there' he won the Hunters' Hurdle Race and later on. in the day accounted for the Ladies' Bracelet. The latter event-was run over one mile and a quarter; and Thespis won very easily, despite the fact that he carried the solid impost of 11.1. The company to settle on Saturday.will.be much stronger, but Thespis should be up to it now, for he is undoubtedly a better . horse at present than he was in August. :
