CORRIEDALES FOR JAPAN

Mr. N. Saito, of the Japanese Imperial Department of Agriculture, has purchased five special stud rams and fifty stud ewes from the Glen Leigh Corriedale stud of Mr. W. T. Bowater, Glen Innes, New South Wales. The sheep will be shorn and shipped to Japan at the end of the month. Purchases have been> made on behalf of the Japanese Government from Mr. Bowling's stud each year during the last seventeen years. Mr. Saito stated that his department had 'experimented very thoroughly with all breeds of sheep, and had definitely proved that the Corriedale had many advantages over any other breed for the small farmers who were the sheep raisers. There were, he said, five million farms in Japan o£ an average size of about one and a half acres, the whole of the cultivation being done by hand.
