/DENIS BOY'S SUCCESS

(From "Vedette.") SYDNEY, 6th October. Denis Boy, who had a small bone broken in his leg last autumn, came out to win the Metropolitan after a sterling finish with Eogilla. Denig Boy gave M. McCarten a fortunate winning ride, for he had no mount on Thursflßiand was engaged for Chide on Saturday

Chide ran badly in the Spring Stakes and McCarten was released for Denis Boy. ... .

McCarten rode a great Taee, saved all the ground possible when his mount dropped back early, -moved up smartlyround the turn, and stalled .off Rogilla over the final furlong. A, Queensland horse, .Lough N.eagh, ,-just beat Historic for third place. The big chestnut was fairly well placed at the half-mile, but-simply was beaten, by 9st 61b. F. McGrath supplied the .'second favourite in Satmoth, as well as. the first choice, Denis Boy. Satmoth -was well in front, of Denis Boy at the turn, but. only fifth at the post. Chide ran a poof race.

The double, Chatham and Denis Boy, was a bad result for the bookmakers, and it is estimated that the pay-out over the double was £40,000. ' -'
