PRELUDE TO DRAMA

DAY OF MEDITATION

CHANCELLOR'S MEMORIES

(Received sth February, 9 a.m.)

LONDON, 4th February. The political stage is set for to-day's drama at Westminster. Mr. Neville Chamberlain spent a portion pf yesterday in seclusion in the preparation of his speech. He is deeply impressed with the importance of the occasion, being not. unmindful that he is bringing to fruition a policy, in the advocacy of which his father sacrificed his health and life.

The House will be packed. Thousands of applications for seats were rejected.

It is expected that two days will elapse before the first division is taken.
