NET REVENUE IMPROVES
CUTTING... DOWN EXPENSES
A further' improvement in the net revenue earned by the Kailway Department is shown in.returns forjthe fourweekly period ended 2nd January last and from the period from Ist April, 1931, until 2nd-January.
According to the "Gazette," the net revenue for the four-weekly period mentJo I n, c- <1,,« WaS &1U> 109, as against &140,d27 for the same period in 1930----31. Tho actual revenue for the period was £567,472, as against £613,214 last year, and the expenditure amounted to £393,363, as against £467,887. For the current financial year up to 2nd January the net revenue has amounted to £420,703, as compared with £353,789 for the corresponding period last year Actual revenue during the period shows a fall of £9,04,063, but the expenditure shows a drop of £970,977.'
