STANDFAST AS HURDLER

Unless present intentions are altered, Standfast will make his debut as a hurdler in the Tirau Hack Hurdles at Matamata to-morrow, and much interest will be centred-in his display if for no other reason than that he is a type of horse likely to make good over fences. On the flat Standfast registered some very useful performances, and, although his form in good handicaps was not quite up the standard expected, he was a capable middle-distance performer when at.his very best. His form on the flat in the spring was disappointing, but he freshened up well with a spell, and, although'he has not had a long preparation for to-morrow's race, he may be ready for a good attempt at his first start over hurdles.
