SOUTH ISLAND CHEESE

FORWARD BUSINESS DONE

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.")

■DUNEDIN, This Day The secretary of the South Island Dairy Association states that several factories have sold their January, February and March cheese output at 5%d per pound f.0.b.; this figure representing an advance of 6s per cwt.

These transactions are encouraging, especially in the South Island, where cheesemaking is a specialty. Owing to the drought Canterbury and North Otago are under a disadvantage. The drop in production is considerable, affecting chiefly the region north of Palmerston. South of that district the grass continues good.
