CHARITABLE AID

SUPPLY OF GROCERIES

The present method of the distribution, of relief with regard to groceries was criticised by delegates at the conference of the New Zealand Master Grocers' Federation to-day.

Mr. J. Heaton Barker said that in Auckland the whole of tho relief was being supplied by one firm. The extent of the turnover last year was about £30,000, and he thought it would be nearer £50,000 this year. "We in Auckland contend that there should be some arrangement whereby any grocer, provided ho is reputable, should bo able to supply relief," ho said. Delegates were of the same opinion, and a motion that Mr. Barker be empowered to frame a resolution to be submitted to associations throuehout New Zealand was carried.
