ESPERANTO-CLUB

The opening meeting of the 1932 season of the Wellington Esperanto; Club ■ took place last Tuesday night in the V.M.C.A., under the presidency of Mr.-Bertram Potts, F.B.E.A. The president referred to the great progress of the Esperanto movement; and to the i new system of tuition, which the committee had established to cater for beginners. A course of four lessons covering the entire grammar would be commenced the first Tuesday each month under the, guidance of Miss Coralie Smythson. Classes were organised under the direction of senior members and good progress made. An excellent programme of all-Esperanto items was presented in the second portion of the evening. Mr. L. E. Bust, chief delegate for New Zealand of the Universal Esperanto Association, gave an entertaining talk specially adapted to junior members on "Intercsa Ekskurso." Mr. William H. King, secretary of the New Zealand Esperanto Association, exhibited a postcard-: album containing 400 postcards, written in Esperanto, which he had received from correspondents in practically every country in the world. He referred / to the educational value accruing from correspondence with -little known nationalities. Mr. Potts spoke in Esperanto on the work accomplished at the third New Zealand Esperanto Congress, which took place at Christchurch durihg the Christmas holidays. The concluding items were presented by Mr. W..L. Edmauson, F.8.E.A., who lecited in Esperanto two Shakespearian speeches, "Hamlet's Soliloquy" and '"The Advice of Polonius to' His Son." * '
