LYCEUM CLUB PARTY

A WELCOME GIVEN

The Wellington Lyceum Club was the scone of a very pleasant party yesterday afternoon, when a number of members who have been on- overseas tours were welcomed back to the club, very beautiful flowers and bush foliage made the clubroom specially attractive, and a delicious afternoon tea was served from the kitchen, members of committee assisting. In the absence of the president (Mrs. H. S. Hadfield), Mesdames Beales and Oakley received the guests, the attendance of members being very good. Some good music was much enjoyed. Miss Mavis Dillon, F.T.C.L., gave a piano solo, and also played the accompaniments artistically. Songs were contributed by Miss Myrtle Chote, L.A.8., and Miss Fuller and Mrs. Lisle, all being thoroughly appreciated. Miss Florence Penney (who is a great favourite at the club) sang to her own accompaniment. Miss Hardinge-Maltby gave two excellent recitations, and was also recalled. A cordial welcome was given to each of the returned members, Mesdames Kidson, D. Coutts, McLaren, P. C. Watt, L. A. Wilson, and Miss A. Gray, and regret was expressed that tw> invited guests of honour, Dr. Mary Blair and Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, had not been able to attend. Apologies and messages were received from each. The afternoon was a very pleasant and successful one.
