The Huntly miners are-working today ponding tho result of a secret ballot decided upon by a mass mee-ting of 800 of tho men yesterday to decide whether a strike will bo' declared as a protest against the recent dismissal of 262 miners. Generally it is considered there will be no strike, as only a minor section of Iho men are militant. The. Government is to bo requested to call a compulsory conference- between representatives of the mine owners and of tbe men with a -view to considering a plan for rationing work.
