INDIA KEEPS CALM
RESPECT FOR GOVERNMENT
(Beceived sth January, 10 a.m.) CALCUTTA, 4th January. A day of mourning for Gandhi's arrest was observed by the Hindus in most of the cities and towns of India to-day. The Moslems kept aloof, and there have been no disturbances.
Tho calm with which Calcutta and India generally heard the news of the arrest of Messrs. Gandhi and Patel is as striking evidence of the decline of tho influence of the Congress Leader as it is a tribute to respect of the awakening of the Government to it's responsibilities.
