CIMABUE'S LAMENESS
.Cimabue'i .absence from-the Wairarapa Cup w«b'-caused-by his "developing'-lame-ness after winning the Palmerston North Stakes at Awapuni la9t week. It was most unfortunate for his connections, who fully.expected him to race well at Tauherenikau, where he was to have had the cervices of A. E. Ellis.
Cimabue's lameness was not apparent after Us rase*, and he seemed all right when put in his box, As he cooled down it became evident that something had gone amiss with 'him, and he gave £is trainer (H. B. Lorigan) much concern on the following day, when he could not put his leg to the ground. Lorigan thought he would havet6 leave him behind, but he made sufficient improvement during the d»y to be included-in the team returned to Tren?haTn "by float. The trip did not affect him,' and he lias continued to mend since. It may, however, be some while before-hs is brought 6ut on the track again.
