NEW FEMININE TYPE
THE BURNE JONES GIRL
Tho latest vogue in femlnluo types, the "Burne Jones girl," has swept Mayfair (states the "Daily Telegraph"). Every other smart woman now wants to part her hair down the centre, and wear it demuroly carried across the side of her face to the nape of her neck, where it is gathered into a plaited ."bun;" if enough hair. is. available, or otherwise ends in the more modern sausage, curl. •
What has brought about this revolution in types is the tilt of tho hat. Women have to bring their hair for\vard on the left side because! there is no hat on that side to adorn it. Then, when hats are .removed, the old-world frocks seem to. demand;hair 'to frame the face in the old-fashioned way. The recent vogue of-drawing the hair off. the face has disappeared "iv . the wave of -Victprianism that has. .now overtaken Fashion. ■ ■; .. •■•..':
The "Burne Jones "" type ;really arrived in Mayfair with the first mannequin parades pfSthe, autumn season. Its appeal has proved irresistible, although- a year ago it was demode, and ridiculed' as',a relic of, the sentimental age. . ' ' ■ : ■" .- ■•'.-. '
On© of the most famous' West End hairdressers is-busy at the moment adapting women's coiffure to this new standard of beauty: The alternative style of hairdressing is the sculptured curl. This is also a revival.. Fairly dense curls are worn in ,a .cluster on the forehead, and possibly one on either cheek, ~ •.' .'. • , ■ •
