WEDDINGS

The marriage was celebrated iccently at Burnside Church, Pirinoa, of Phoebe, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Martin, Otaraia, and Charles Robert, son of the lato Mr C. R. Bidwill and Mrs. Bidwill, Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. Hardie, and Mrs. M. B. Cameron played tho "Wedding March." The church was artistically decorated with hydrangeas, in varying shades of pink and blue. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr. W. H. Martin, wore a long sheath-like frock of parchment lace, the skirt flaring at the hem. With this she wore a short lace coatee, and a crinoline straw hat with parchment tinted feather. Her bouquet was of roses and delphiniums Miss Kitty Hewitt (Marton) was bridesmaid, wearing floral georgette in tones of. pink and blue. She also carried a pink and blue bouquet. Mr. KD. Martin was best man. Masses of flowers decorated the rooms at Otaraia, Where a reception was held. Mrs. Martin wore a black satin frock and a black hat, and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and bronze pansies. Mrs. Bidwill was in black lace, and her small. black hat was ' trimmed with flowers. Mrs. D. Warren (sister of the bride) wore blue floral georgette and a beige hat* The bride travelled in a honey beigo and bronze patterned georgette :frocky^nd a-brown coat and a small felt hat.

The marriage was celebrated this afternoon at St Paul's Pro-Cathedral of Ruth Maya, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. V. P<jmberton, Barnard street, and William Hay, son of Mrs. J.j Brown and the late G. A. Hay, Southampton, England. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Canon P. James. 'The bride, who was' escorted by her father, wore a frock of parchment coloured faille, the long skiit falling in heavy J olds from a tightfitting bodice with long sleeves, and forming a small train at tho back. Her tulle veil to tone was arranged with a coronet of pearls and orango blossom: She carried a sheaf of scarlet roses, which formed a striking contrast. The two bridesmaids, Misses Joan "Welch and Phyllis Rowe, wore dainty frocks of jade, green, starched ninon. Thoir fully-flared skirts were vandyked on to the bodices, which were made with bolero- effect and puff sleeves. They wore bandeaux of scarlet roses on their hair, and carried small muffs of the ninon finished with a scarlet spray. v Mr. C. Evans-Scott was best man, and Mr. T. M. Pemberton groomsman. Mr. I. McKersey and Mr. J. McKelvie were ushers. Tho subsequent reception was. held at the residence of the bride's parents, Barnard street. Mrs. Pemberton received the guests wearing a model black floral gown and a black hat with a black plume. When the bride and bridegroom left later the bride wore a smart ensemble of figured beige marocain and hat of beige straw trimmed with a scarlet quill.

A recent wedding" that interested many friends was that of Bernadotte Agnes, younger daughter of Mrs. C. FitzGeraid,. of Hataitai, to George Leslie Almond, of Matloek, Derbyshire, England. The coremony took place at tho Church W Mount Carmel, Hataitai, when the Rev. Monsignor Connelly officiated. The bride was escorted by Mr. li. Norton-Taylor, and was charmingly f rocked in delphinium blue georgetto with a floral design in rose shades,

'wearing a coatee to match. Her cream .picture hat was..of Baku straw, and she carried a sheaf of delphiniums and roses to tone with her' frock. The bridesmaid, Miss Florence FitzGerald, wore a £gurett .georgette ensemble, in tones of primrose and tangerine, her hat being.of coarso beige-toned straw trimmed with! a swathing of silk velvet ribbon's, to -.match the frock.. Her bouquet was of rosos shading- from cream to deep orangu. Mr. Bernard FitzGerald was best ' man. Mrs. C. FitzGerald (mother of the bride) was in. a smart. navy, blue niarocaiit ensemble, with a small hat of navy, her bouquet being of deep led roses. The church was artistically decorated by the" members of the Mount Carmel Tennis Club, of which the bride was a member. Hydrangeas, delphiniums, and loses were used with charming effect. The reception was held after the ceremony on the church premises, about sixty guests being entertained in a room arranged in- marqueo fashion, with rainbow-coloured streamers and flowers, the wedding breakfast tables being decorated with sweet peas iv pastel shades. Among tho guests were Mr. and Mrs. L. Norton-Taylor, Captain and Mrs. Whitoford, Captain and Mrs. G. P. "Hall, Mr. and Mrs. -W. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. F. Wills, Mr. and Mrs. A. Petherick, Misses -FitzGerald, Petherick (2), Grant (2), Eaton, Anderson, Thompson, Dillon, Burley, and others. The bride's travelling costume was of black, worn with a pandan hat. Mr. and Mrs. Almond Will leave shortly for England; and will make their home at Matlock. Derbyshire.
