SKID ON ICY, ROAD

KUGBY, Ist January. Sir Herbert Samuel, Secretary of State for Home Affairs, who has beea spending part of the recess at Torquay. set out by motor-car to visit Dartmoor Prison at" Princetown on Wednesday. The machine skidded in an ice-bound moorland road, and ran into a ditch. Sir Herbert Samuel and his chauffeur were uninjured, but the car was damaged, and Sir Herbert proceeded, on foot.
