INSURANCE FRAUD
DUMMY CORPSE EXHUMED
PARIS, 2nd January.
The exhumation of a dummy corpse in an Algiers cemetery confirms the recent confession of Louis Durand, the man arrested at Lyons in connection with a plot to defraud an insurance company.
Police inquiries on 23rd December disclosed an insurance fraud. The originator insured his life for .£15,000, and took a huge dose of quinine, producing symptoms which convinced a doctor that he had brain fever. Later his "death" was announced, and a dummy was buried in his stead.
