SECOND DAY'S PLAY
Again to-day, from quite early in the morning tho Wellington Lawn Tennis Association's courts at Miramar, where the Wellington championships aro being played, presented an f.uimatcd appearance. Keen interest :'.s being taken in the various championship events, and with a. good spriuklL'ig of the leading players taking part, as well as promising aspirants to higher honours, a number of the games have produced good tennis. Some of the games wero delayed yesterday owing to the 'absence of players at tho Martinborough tournament, but tho management of the championships is working smoothly. Tho weather for to-day's play was again good, although the wind was a little stronger than yesterday, but play was not affected. The match between Miss D. Nicholls and Mrs. J. Latta this morning in the first grade women's singles championships was followed closely by a good gallery. Miss Nicholls had no difficulty in taking the match, 6-3, 6-3. Tho tournament will be continuod tomorrow (New Year's Day) and on Saturday, when most of the finals in tho different sections will bo played.
