WOOLLEN INDUSTRIES

TARIFF DISARMAMENT BRUSSELS, 30th December. Eepresentatives of the British, French, and Belgian woollen industries met at Lille and agreed to a "tariff disarmament," according to M. Andre Peltzer, president of the Belgian Textile Federation, who is reported as having said that an agreement was reached on a basis of reciprocity of fiscal legislation—tariffs equal for all and as low as possible. He added that the British are convinced that their countrymen enthusiastically would accept the arrangement. "Opinion in Germany and elsewhere has been sounded," he added. "The majority of countries are favourable, and we now have to convince the Governments."
