ESPERANTO CLUB.

The weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club took place last Tuesday night in the Y.M.C.A.,'Mr. B. C. Jack presiding. In connection with the growing literature of Esperanto, it was pointed out that the British Esperanto "Association had a catalogue with 12,800 entries. Both Esperantist and non-Esperantist firms in many countries were publishing Esperanto books, and the literature in the language covered a wide range of life and thought. The Esperanto translation of the Bible was. a masterpiece of literary power and accuracy. Large anthologies existed in Esperanto of Catalan and other littleknown literatures. Eminent philologists who had learnt the language claimed that Esperanto was a literary language o£ a high order, with great resources, and a genius of its own. Tuition classes were organised and good progress made in the study of Esperanto. . Towards the conclusion of the evening, Mrs. C. Leek gave an Esperanto reading on "Euso kun Ia Tartaro." Mr. L.E. Dust gave a: short lecture ,in Esperanto, on "Irigacio de Saharo," illustrating by use of a map various projects which: had been mooted to irrigate the Sahara Desert. Miss E. Duguid read an entertaining item entitled 'En Franca Eestoracio." The concluding item •was an original Esperanto plajlet entitled "Ni Devas Praktiki Ekonc-mion, presented by Mr. Joseph Major and Mr. Bertmam Potts, the club secretary.
