-WOOL MARKET UP LONDON CLOSES FIRM AN ACTIVE DEMAND (Keeeived Bth October, 11.5 a.m.) ; LONDON, 7th October. Offerings at thn closing sate of the series to-day ■were; Wool sales 8947 bales, including 4586 New Zealand. About 6020 bales were sold. Realisations of New Zealand wool to-day were: Greasy crossbred "Pukati," 9d to 7d; slipe "l<'eilding" ll%d to SM. The sales closed with a steady market, although prices to-day were slightly below the best of the series. Compared with July closing rates, prices for greasy merinos have advanced by from 5 to 10 per cent.; supers are 10 per cent, higher; scoured combings are 5 per cent. lower; fine crossbreds are 10 and medium S per cent, higher. All other sorts are practically at July parity. Of tho total quantity catalogued for this series 174,746 bales were sold. The Home trade took 92,000 bales; the Continent 62,000, and the United States 2000. Australian wool sold amounted to 79,000 bales, and New Zealand wool sold to 55,000 bales.
