A RENEWED PROTEST

DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY

DUNEDIN, 6th October.

The Dunedin Presbytery to-day adopted tho following recommendation from the public questions committee: —

"With a view to tho advancement of

Lilt; best interests of tho communityTjv the present economic crisis in which tlic, spiritual, moral, and social elements must of necessity determine very largely the future welfaro of citizens, the presbytery resolves to approach the Minister "of internal' Affairs, the Hon. H. Hamilton, with a renewed protest against the granting of permits for art unions in the future, and the introduction into New Zealand of any form of State lottery, believing that we should follow the lead of the United Kingdom and Dominion of Canada in this matter in the true interests of public welfare, economic as well as moral, with a view to an early return of prosperity based on sound principles and restoration of confidence at Homo and abroad."
