BRADFORD WANTS FIGURES
(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 4th September.
Representatives of the wool industry at Bradford are very anxious to find out the exact quantity of hold-over wool there is in New Zealand. Lord Barnby waited on the High Commissioner a few days ago on behalf of the wool manufacturers of Bradford. He stated that they had three different sets of figures, all alleged to have been obtained from authentic sources, but all conflicted with one another. He asked whether there were some way. of obtaining the exact figures of what was being held. Sir Thomas Wilford promised to acquaint hi 3 Government with;the manufacturers desire. This he has done.
The New Zealand Woolbrokers' Association's returns are as follows:—In brokers 6tores and in farmers' sheds as at 30th June, 181.05 Dto 181,803; in woollen mills, freezing works, scourer works, and shipping, railway, and harbour board stores, 82,319 bales. During July and August 33,684 bales were shipped.
