(Received Utli October, 11 a.m.) I MELBOURNE, This Day. The Victorian Chamber of Mamtfuc- j tures liiis urged the Minister of Customs (Mr. F. M. Fordo) to take up the question of a trade treaty for closer commercial relations with New Zealand, pointing out that Australia's exports since 19-0 had fallen from £5,000,000 to £3,000,000, and Now Zealand's had fallen from £3,000,000 to £1,250.000. It was suggested that a trade delegation, including the Minister of Customs, should be sent to New Zealand to try and negotiate such a treaty. Mr. Forde, in replying, said he would bving1 the matter before the Federal Cabinet at the earliest moment. lie favoured the idea, as Australia ami the Dominion had so much in_ common, nationally and commercially. There was ample room for a stocktaking and an investigation into the matter.
