COAL BY-PRODUCTS PROJECT.

The provisional directors of the Coal Distillation and By-Products (N.Z.), Ltd., Company, Christehurch, met on Jf'riday for the purposes of going to allotment. Present: Messrs. 11. R. Young, civil engineer, Wertport (chairman), J. W. Grcenslade, (J. S.:: M'Cully, J. G. Armstrong, R. H. Hill, 11. English, A. C. Cottrell, and the secretary, Il'. O. Dunn. The chairman paid a tribute to the (successful effort of Mr. English-, far more shares being taken up than was necessary to go to allotment. Mr. GreeDslade stated it was quite a pleasure to meet those who had taken up shares in his district and find how satisfied they were with tlin detailed information'given them by Mr. English. The Ireatment of small bituminous coal on the West Coast waa a matter demanding serious consideration. 'It''was of importance to the Government and the country as a whole. Mr. English was appointed managing director for the purpose of fulfilling the objects sot out in the prospectus. The Coal Treatment Syndicate, Limited, has been registered in Auckland, to investigate and develop processes and methods for the treatment of slack coal, coke,- arid peat, etc. Capital, £1000, in £t shares. 'Subscribers: H. P. Dansey, G.-E. M. Hornennin. A. K. Turner, and L. XVtiUc, 5 shares each; Mildred M. Thomson. A. C. Cocks, and Gertrude K. Turner, 1 share each.
