DAIRY RATIONALISATION
"I do not know what can lie done by us as a company," eaid Mr. H. E. Perryman, chairman Tai Tapu Dairy Company, at the annual meeting. "I am sure," he said, "that there are no two opinions on 'the question of there being too many factories, in Canterbury, and that considerable 'savings could be made tr> us, as dairy farmers, if the whole of the dairy activities could be confined to, say, two factories," stated the .chairman of the Tai Tapu Dairy Company at the annual meeting on Friday. "In fact, I would go further, and say that one factory could operate for seven months in the year, and the second factory function during the months of peak output only. V.'c have recognised that a general squaring up of the situation is required, and, with this object in view, months ago we wrote to all companies suggesting consideration of a proposition for amalgamating, but regret that this proposal was not favourably received by several factories."
