The New Zealand Meat Uoard'a advices from Smithfield, dated 2nd October, were that the lamb market wus quiet, with prices a shade easier. Supplies of Home, killed lamb are Btill heavy. Forward buyers displaying very little interest in view of increasing supplies of new season's Australian and South American lamb. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes weaker owing, to heavier arrivals. Beef market: Steady, stocks light. New Zealand porker pigs: Slightly better demand, but feeling competition large supplies Home killed. New Zealand baconer piss: Purely nominal. Average prices, with those ruling for the week before shown in parentheses, were as follows: —New Zealand Sheep: Canterbury and North Island, seletced, crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 48-50 sttd (5 3-8 d), 57-04 Sd (0 l-8d), 65-72 4 5-Sd (4%d)'; North Island, 48-56 5d (5%d), 57-64 4%d (sd), 65-72 4<4d (4 5-8 d); ewes, 48-undei- 4 l-8d (4 3-8 d), 48-64 3%d (3 7-Sd). 65-72 '3 -5-8 d (3 5-8 d).
