REARRANGING WORK
SPINNING OUT THE MONEY
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evennig Post." PALMEESTON N., This Day. In reply to the resolution stating that there would be no rationing of work in Palmerston North until the Unemployment Committee received a definite assurance from the Unemployment Board that there would be no corresponding reduction in the allocation for the district, the Commissioner replied that the available funds were being distributed on tho most equitable basis and that any reduction in the allocations had been brought about because of tho steady increase in registrations. The chairman (Mr. Nash) stated further that he had been advised by the board that Palmerston North's allocation was higher, pro rata, than that of other centres,, and that the average money available) was 17s per week per man. In view of the large number of men who had not been placed on relief work and the possibility that this number would bo increased in the very near future, it was decided to rearrange the work to make it spin out further and to reduce the three-day men to two days until such time,as further funds were inado available.
