DOMINION'S AIR SENSE
MISSIONARY, ON THE WAYj SYDNEY, sth. October. Mrs. Hewlett, the veteran airwoman, who reached Sydney to-day, said her flight from Amsterdam to Batavia had merely whetted her appetite for further air travel. It was a happy dream. She was thu only passenger for most of the 9000 air miles. She had two pilots, a mechanic, and a radio operator for companions, and she jokeJ. for nearly the whole ten days. _ She was anxious to create an "air sense" in New Zealand, but so far had had little success. She added: "I would go from Sydney, to New Zealand by air if this were possible." She will' embark on the Sonoma tomorrow for Auckland. Mrs. Hewlett left . Croydon by » Dutch air liner on 3rd September. She declared that New Zealand was her adopted country, and she intended throwing all her enthusiasm into the task of convincing Australia and New Zealand that they cannot afford to neglect to forge air links with the remainder of the world. Mrs. Hewlett married the lato Maurice Hewlett, English novelist, in 1888. After her husband's death she lived for some time in Auckland, and was there as recently as 1028.
