BOYCOTT IN SHANGHAI
RESENTMENT SPREADING SERIOUS OUTLOOK (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received 6lh October, 10 a.m.) SHANGHAI, slh October. A swelling undercurrent of local Japanese civilian resentment against the spreading of the boycott threatens to precipitate a repetition of Manchurian events here. Four Japanese destroyers arrived to-night, and simultaneously a Japanese naval parade took place in the International Settlement. Boycott pickets are seizing Japanese merchandise, and the Japanese unhesitatingly enter Chinese territory to recover the merchandise. There is every prospect of a major outburst shortly.
