NOTICE TO RESCIND
ONE SELECTOR OR THREE? CRICKET COMMITTEE'S MOTION Possibly the most v important decision reached at the first meeting of the newlyelected Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association last week was that by which it was decided, to have a selection committee of three instead of a sole selector during this season. Various names were submitted to _ the meeting of men likely to form a suitable, committee, and the matter was held over till this week's meeting to enable a decision to be reached. . ...... Last night, however, after the matter had been brought up by the chairman (Mr. W. P. Broad), a motion was moved by Mr. R. A. Whyte, and seconded by Mr. J. Hanna, that the matter should be held over for a further week, and while this was under consideration the chairman accepted a notice of motion from Mr.; A. W. Duncan, who was not present at last week's meeting, that the motion passed last week be rescinded. DIVISION OF RESPONSIBILITY. In putting forward his motion, Mr. Duncan said that he realised it was rather late for him to have anything to 6ay in the matter, but he felt that better satisfaction would be obtained from a sol« selector than from a committee of three, in which the responsibility was too -widely divided. .-:-■: Mr. A. Ronaldson said that.he had supported the motion in favour of a committee of three last week, but since then certain information had reached him which had caused him to alter his .views. In certain cases a committee was :to b» preferred, but where a good sole selector could be obtained he was more satisfactory than a committee. . The whole matter will therefore probably be again considered fully at next week's meeting, when.'it is probable that a definite decision will be reached, •at there is need for a certain amount of urgency in view of the possibility' of" a trial match on Labour Day, and the an» nual Town v. Country match. '
