CRUSADE OF CHARITY

SUFFERERS IN SLUMP

ESPECIALLY CHILDREN

MOST INNOCENT VICTIMS

(United. PrcM Association—By Electric X*craph— Copyright. " (Received sth October, 10 a.ra.)] ROME, 4th October. The Pope, in an Encyclical, movingly appeals for a world crusade of charity, bringing food for body and comfort for the soul to sufferers by the economic crisis, especially the unemployed and children, who are the most innocent victims. In this very sad state of things he urges every Christian to exercise charity, especially in the coming winter. He appeals to the bishops to open relief centres. He considers that the sums spent in armaments are among the causes of distress. He calls attention to the fact that the Encyclical is dated 2nd October, which is the Feast of the Guardian Angels, the special protectors, of children.
