REPUDIATION
LANG'S "I TOLD YOU SO"
FIXED POLICY. OF WORLD
SYDNEY, 4th October. Speaking at the eight-hour demonstration dinner in the Trades Hall last night, the Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, claimed that the, policy of repudiation of the sanctity of the written contract by Act of Parliament which seven months ago had ostracised his party was now the fixed policy of tha world. "People in our midst advocated armod revolution as tho only means of emancipation," Mr. Lang said. "That revolution has come without the accompaniment of firearms: in- the way the Labour Party said it would comenamely, by Act of Parliament. "Every. Parliament arbitrarily has repudiated its contracts by Act of Parliament. Every Parliament has agreed that the bondholder who does not convert will receive no interest at all, and every nation has abolished the gold standard. '■■"■■ "This revolution, like all others,-has brought' tremendous-"' suffering ■■■ and misery. It will continue for a while, but Australia will soon emerge on the road to prosperity."
