' MAORI SELECTIONS
"There has been much:dissatisfaction amongst Maori footballers • regarding the selection of Maori representative teams, the greatest inconsistency having been exorcised in the method of selecting them," writes a correspondent (' * Maori")'. "As an instance of this, out of twenty-one players who were selected for tho tour of the South Island, eight only were chosen for the ,Test match against Australia;, another instance is that of a Southland mau being picked for the Test team who had not played in any club matebes this year, and who appears to have been chosen on his previous year's reputation. Surely in fairness to Maori footballers, and indeed to Eugby itself,, a greater discretion should be exercisod in tho selection of teams. In cphsequenco of this it is strongly recommended that tho proscnt system,of soloction by the Maori Advisory Board be scrapped, and that the team be selected under the Now Zealand, All Black code. This. Avould not only remove doubts and iirguincnts, but would givo much satisfaction and better understanding with rogard to Muovi football." Tho New Zealand Rugby Union 'a Management Committee has set up a' sub-committeo to go into natters affecting the control of ;Rugby football amongst tho Maoris:
