SALES OF THE WEEK.
"Evening Post," 2nrl O-ctober. Business in Government loans during iiie week has been done on a failing market, and would seem ,to reflect the fear, rather freely expressed, that a way will be found to tax the tax-free loans. However, there are-buyers of these debentures at' bargain prices. Bank shares, on the other hand, have improved in price, and the decline in the market value of the shares of the Bank of New Zealand appears to have been arrested. Certain Australian metal companies' shares show an' improvement in price, and have had a fair inquiry. For all other shares the demand at best may be described as only moderate.
