ASSOCIATION
QUESTION OF COURTESY
The Wellington Football-■ Association emphatically denied that any letter had been received from the Free Ambulance Association when reference was made at last evening's meeting to a letter which recently appeared in the Press commentiu;,' ou the discourtesy of the association in not. replying to correspondence from the Free Ambulance. Mr. G. Aers.said that-Mr. George Mitchell, of the Free Ambulance, had,, made a Btatement that, four letters had been written to the association, which had not had the courtesy to. reply. He had meutioned last week that he did not remember receiving any letter from the lice Ambulance. On oue occasion a letter hail been received asking tho ussociatiou to assist the ambulauee by ippoiuting a represeutative to attend a function at the Town Hall and sell tickets, and a member of the association had actually gone to th!he°toan (Mr. W. B. Hicks) snid that if any letter had been received. the ambulance would at least have received courtesy. It was a great pity that the letter which had been published ™ uot sent to the association in the first place, as he was sure the statement was contrary to a letter which had been gent to the president of the association (Mr. Roberts), Mr. Hicks said that the ambulance had apparently written to the president because it could not-receive v reply from the secretary. Any correspondence from the, Free Ambulance always received courteous attention. The association certainly took exception to the remarks appearing in the Press. A letter was received from the Diamond Club pointing out that a player who had played in two preliminary matches, but had not played in the final of the Auld Memorial Cup, had not received a medal. The club offered: to pay for the medal. The chairman said, that there were only eleven players in the final, and only eleven medals were provided; there was no medal for the. extra man. If they gave twelve they would soon be giving foui'teeu, and this would, reduce the value of the medals. It was decided to decline the request. A letter from H.M.S. Diomede in reference to nest Saturday's match stated that the Navy aide'was not a representative Navy team, as the Diomede would be the only ship in port. ' Six or seven of the team which defeated Auckland last Saturd«/ were included in the team. It was stated that the match against the.Diomede would be the.last important fixture of the season. , .
