TALLOW PRICES ADVANCE.
, : (Received Ist October, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, 30th September. At the tallow sales to-day 546 casks were offered and 145 were sold at an average advance of Is. ■, ■ Quotations: Mutton, fine 21s 9d, medium 18s 6d; beef, fine 23s 3d, medium 18s 6d.
The Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received the following advice from its London office under date 30th September:—"Tallow: There is a fair demand. Current quotations^ Good mutton, 20a 6d to 21s per cwt; beef, 21s to 21s 6d; mixed, 21s to 21s 6d; gut, Ids 6d to 17s 6d." , The Loan and Mercantile Company reports, London, 30th September: "Tallow: Fine mntton, 21s 3d cwt (19s cwt); good beef, 20s 6d (18s); mixed, 20s 3d (17s). Market improved, but unsettled.' Prices at 27th August are in parentheses.
