KIWI CLUB

■ In ita annual .report the committee of the Kiwi Amateur Athletic and .Cycling Club congratulates the dub on the wonderful progress made during the past season, it being probably the most successful in the history of the club. Although splendid progress was made and the club has firmly established itself in • Wellington athletic circles, the committee feels that it is opportune to stress once again the extreme importance of increasing membership year by year. Each member is urged, in endeavouring to make the club the premier athletic club in Wellington, not to rely on'his ■'efforts alone, but on his efforts assisted by those of the new members he has enrolled. An increase of 32 new members is recorded. ' ■ The: club was again fortunate, in securing the use of the Basin Reserve for training purposes. Now that a jmnpiug.pit has been provided this ground is ideal for training, and '■■ members are urged to Bhow their. appreciation by attending at the' Basin . Reserve for training' even more, regularly than- they -have. done_ iv previous years. To stimulate club activities and- foster club spirit amongst members, a club competition was introduced at the coiiimencement of ; the, seasim. Events . decided each week were keenly contested by the members, who appreciated ; this interesting aud invaluable method of training.: A'handsome "Points Shield AVits donated by Mr. E. A. Everiss for the member gaining the most points in this competition. : _ - . ■ • ■ '•-.] . Performances in various - competitions .throughout the season are reviewed, and references made to the coaching and instructional work. Financially the club is shown to ba in a sound.position. The report concludes: "Whilst tho present prospects for' the club's 'advancement are exceedingly bright, the committee would impress upon all members the importance of maintainjng and- even improving the present position of the club. This imposes upon each individual the duty of working continuously and unselfishly for the club's welfare."
