TELEGRAPHED BETS
CONSPIRACY ALLEGED
Following the arrest and trial of two men.for attempting to defraud bookmakers by telegram, Wilfred Henry Gladstone Brown, a clerk, aged 44, appeared at.the Magistrate's Court to-day on a charge of conspiring with Alfred Jansen and John Maitland to defraud Charles -Joseph Williams and Peter Healy of sums of money. In asking for a remand until lGth September, Sub-Inspector Ward said that the accused, who was a. married man living apart from his wife, had, at tho time of the alleged offences, been in the employ of the Post Office. Tho Magistrate, Mr. E. Page, S.M., granted the remand, ami on tho application of Mr. W. P. Rollings admitted the accused to bail on a bond of £200 with one surety of £.200.
