LICENSING LAW

PENALTY FOR BREACHES

"The committee hold a definite viewthat if licensees do not comply with the law they should not hold licences," said the chairman of the Licensing Committee, Mr. E. Page, SiM;, at the quarterly meeting held to-day. Mr. Pag* said that one of the licensees had had two convictions during the quarter and there was another charge' pending against him. The committee did not propose to deal with the matter at the present sitting, but their view was that if convictions followed one another the licensee would have to lose his license. Mr. Page intimated that if any steps were contemplated the licensee'! counsel would be given an opportunity to state his case. .
