ACCUSED IN COURT
SEVEN MEN AND A. .WOMAN
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Seven men and a woman appeared in the Police Court to-day on. chaTges arising out of yesterday's riot. Two other men were arrested to-day. Several hundred people assembled outside the Court, and-booed frequently during the proceedings. A few stones were hurled at tho police van.
A constable said that when Alfred Fowler (59) was arrested a mob tried to free him, and the police had to fight their way out. . Fowler gavo evidoncc of being struck by a baton. He t admitted that ho was very excited, but he denied attacking the police. At the lunch adjournment two cases had been heard. The Magistrate intimated " his intention to convict, but deferred sentence.
