WAR DEBT TO BRITAIN
TALK OF ABATEMENT
IS SCULLIN NEGOTIATING?
(.Received 11th February, 1 p.m.) LONDON, 10th February. Inquiries by the Australian Press Association tend to confirm Press cables from Australia that' Mr. Scullin is negotiating to obtain an abatement of war indebtedness to Britain. Both the Dominions' Office and Australia House refuse to deny or confirm this, from which it is inferred that tho negotiations aro at a dolicato stage. The Australian .Press Association learns that the naval, military, air force liaison officers at Australia, House are being retired. Mr. Trumble, Secretary to the High Commissioner, will act in their stead. The Agents-General at present are disinclined to comment on the proposal for their abolition.
